Description

The Periodic Table Mug features a full wrap around version of the periodic table. This table is is a systematic arrangement of the elements in order of increasing atomic number. The atomic number refers to the number of protons in the nucleus of an atom. This mug is a handy way to show off the elements!

The table is arranged into numbered rows (periods) and columns (groups).

Did you know? The first 92 elements exist naturally and the rest have only been created in the laboratory.

The Russian scientist Dmitri Mendeleev is generally credited with the design of the Periodic Table. He used it to map those elements known at the time and also to predict elements that had not yet been discovered.

Since he published his table it has indeed proven true that the existence of elements could be predicted with the discovery of Gallium and Germanium in the late 1880s. These were first discovered in the laboratory but subsequently found in nature. The periodic table has proven to be an extraordinarily valuable scientific tool of discovery.

The design includes the four newly named elements of Nihonium, Moscovium, Tennessine and Oganesson. Can you imagine drinking from a mug that isn’t up to date?

Supplied in a full colour box which includes information about the Periodic Table. Suitable for microwaves. Can be placed in a dishwasher but overtime the caustic nature of the detergent will remove the printing on the mug.

This is the perfect gift for an enterprising student, for a valued teacher or as a gift for that hard to buy for person!
