Description
Ammonites were relatives of squids and nautili which thrived in the seas doing the time of the dinosaurs. Their name originates from the Greek ram-horned god Ammon.
There were many different varieties, ranging in size from very small to quite large.
This specimen is a matching pair. The Ammonite is sliced in half and polished on all surfaces to create a unique feature piece.
Each half of the matching pair is approx: 16 cm wide x 13 cm high and weighing approx 850 g
